Dr. Yang Xia received his Bachelor of Science degree at the United States Military Academy at West Point where he graduated salutatorian. He received his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland.
Dr. Xia completed his internship and Dermatology residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center where he served as Chief Resident during his 3rd year and received the prestigious Bailey K. Ashford Clinical Research award. He served as Chief of Dermatology Services at Evans Army Community Hospital, Ft. Carson, Colorado prior to starting his Mohs Procedural Dermatology Fellowship at Scripps Clinic, San Diego, California. After completing his fellowship, he was then asked to join the teaching staff at one of the nation’s largest dermatology residency programs at the combined Brooke Army Medical Center and Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. While there he served as the Director of Mohs Surgery and established and ran the department’s first outpatient laser vein clinic. In 2011, he deployed to Bagram, Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom where he received the Bronze Star Medal. He currently serves as Associate Professor of Dermatology at the Uniformed Services University (USU) and Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and also holds board certification in the Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery (MDS) subspecialty. He is a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery. In addition, he is Diplomate of the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine (ABVLM) and a Registered Phlebology Sonographer (RPhS). Dr. Xia has lectured at several national medical meetings including the annual conferences for the American Academy of Dermatology, American College of Mohs Surgery and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. He has also published in many prominent medical journals to include the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and the Dermatologic Surgery Journal. |
